Keeping your Spray Foam system clean is one of the most important tasks you need to complete to extend the product’s life. Residual material and foreign solids can affect the quality of the spray or end up damaging the system. The IntelliSpray™ system is equipped with easy-to-use cleaning and prevention measures that allow the user to identify when the system needs to be cleaned.
System Purge
The InstelliSpray is an open system that requires an incoming stream of two types of materials (A & B). The system then processes the materials and sprays them through the hoses and guns. If the system receives and starts processing the incoming material, but it’s never sprayed out, there’s a risk of the chemicals hardening and damaging the system or clogging it. The IntelliSpray system includes a purge mechanism that pushes the materials through the system until they are released.
- The system requires that the user exits (Stop) the Spray Mode to start purging.
- In the user interface, press the menu button and choose the exchange screen.
- In the “Mode” options, select the Purge button.
- After this, the user must decide:
a. What material will be purged (A, B, or both),
b. What heating element will be turned on,
c. And what criteria will automatically stop the purging (manual, timed, volume goal, or temperature goal).
Remember that air purge must not be used for the A-side since this will cause the chemical to harden and damage the system. Never activate the heating elements if the system is dry, as it may cause them to fail and create a fire hazard. Never purge the system with flammable or oxidizing gas/liquid as it may lead to explosions or fire hazards.
Maintenance – Fluid Module Inlet
The material pumped into the IntelliSpray system comes from external drums for each. The hoses are connected to the drums and lead directly to the fluid modules. Through the incoming flow, the material could contain foreign solids that may affect the equipment’s performance. The IntelliSpray system features an inlet fluid module filter that prevents the solids from entering the modules, hoses, and guns. Also, within the system, the user interface has an alarm screen that alerts the user when the filter needs to be cleaned or replaced.
- The system requires that the user exits (Stop) the Spray Mode and turns off the equipment using the control module’s power switch.
- Turn off the supply pumps and close upstream supply valves.
- Loosen the Fluid Module’s captive retention screws for better access and pull the spring-loaded locking pin
- Slide the Fluid Module until the pin engages in the first position.
- Place a bucket below to collect drips and close the Filter Module valves.
- Remove the filter cap and O-Ring while allowing the fluid to drip into the bucket.
- Remove the filter elements and clean with a compatible solvent or replace them.
- Inspect the O-ring for any tears or damage and apply gun grease to aid in reassembly.
- Reinsert the filter body into the manifold and reinstall the filter cap
- Open filter valves and slide the fluid module into its original position.
- Tighten the retention screws and continue spraying
Maintenance – Control Module Filter
The control module features a cooling system composed of a fan and a filtered air inlet to prevent overheating. The fan is thermostatically controlled and is designed to pull outside air as needed. An air filter at the bottom of the door is designed to keep external contaminations away from the system. The filter should be cleaned or replaced every three months of use (once a month in particularly dusty locations).
- The system requires that the user exits (Stop) the Spray Mode and turns off the equipment using the control module’s power switch.
- Open the module’s door by releasing the locking latches on the side.
- Locate the filter at the bottom of the door and loosen the screws and brackets holding the filter in place.
- Loosen the left side button screws enough to allow the filter to be removed without removing the inner bracket.
- Remove the filter and remove dust and debris from it using compressed air or a vacuum.
- Rinse the filter with warm water and soap until clean.
- Remove soap and shake excess water from the filter. When dry, reinstall the filter in reverse order and close the control module door when done.
